Paul Slater Named Vice President, Corporate Controller

Aim Transportation Solutions is thrilled to announce the promotion of Paul Slater, MA, CPA, CGMA, to Vice President, Corporate Controller. Since coming on board in 2000, Slater has been instrumental in all of Aim’s accounting functions while being an invaluable leader for several departments, including billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable and collections, and licensing and permitting.

In this expanded role, Slater will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions. These responsibilities include vital financial functions such as reviewing acquisitions and mergers, generating annual budgets, and overseeing external audits and government compliance.

“I feel blessed to work alongside our terrific employees here at Aim in an expanded role,” said Slater. “I am excited for the future, and I believe our company is well positioned to continue the upward trajectory we are currently on in the transportation and logistical services industry.”

“Aim has been like a second home to me over these 23 years,” Slater added. “We have owners who truly care for our employees and who are committed to keeping our organization healthy and viable for the future.”

“For more than two decades, Paul has been vital to Aim—vital to our day-to-days, vital to our ongoing growth and expansion, and vital to the people he leads,” said Aim Co-President Geoff Fleming. “Paul is as dedicated and enthusiastic as he knowledgeable and resourceful, which, given Paul’s impressive achievements and experience, says it all.”

In the 23 years since Paul Slater joined the company, Aim has experienced tremendous growth. From locations across the country, around 1,000 Aim employees serve a large, diverse, ever expanding customer base, which comprises an Aim fleet of more than 11,000 vehicles. This complex, multi-pronged operation requires rigorous and careful fiscal planning and management, and one would be hard pressed to find anyone more skilled and knowledgeable for the job than Mr. Slater.

In fact, Slater is so skilled and knowledgeable that he’s been teaching accounting, finance and general business courses at three different colleges and universities for the last 18 years.

“I enjoy engaging with the next generation of students who are tomorrow’s leaders in business and industry,” said Slater. “My role at Aim gives me helpful real-world insight that I share with students to help them apply and make sense of the concepts learned in textbooks and other curriculum in business courses.”

Slater’s educational journey began in 1990 after graduating Grove City College with a BA in accounting, and nine years later he would go on to obtain his master’s degree. But the voyage didn’t end there. Slater is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).

Eventually, in 2005, Slater, with such a strong knowledge and command of his craft, would begin teaching college classes. He currently teaches at Malone University, in Canton, OH, where in 2020 he was promoted to Senior Adjunct Instructor at Malone University and was a 2021 finalist for the university’s Distinguished Faculty Award for Adjunct Teaching.

On top of all his commitments, Slater serves as an alumni mentor at his alma mater, and he has been an Aim United Way Pacesetter Committee member for serval years, supporting Aim’s many community outreach efforts.

Paul and his wife, Betsy, of 30 years live in Boardman, OH. They have two daughters who are both married. Mr. and Mrs. Slater are both active at Old North Church, in Canfield, OH, where they have served for many years. They also enjoy traveling and the companionship of their two dogs.
