TMC’s Coveted Silver Spark Plug Awarded to Aim EVP of Maintenance

Aim’s Executive Vice President of Maintenance, Chris Disantis, recently earned one of the truck maintenance industry’s most sought-after awards: the American Trucking Association’s (ATA) Technology & Maintenance Council’s (TMC) Silver Spark Plug.

“The Silver Spark Plug, our industry's highest honor, is given to individuals who demonstrate professional excellence in commercial vehicle maintenance,” said TMC Executive Director Robert Braswell. “Our winners this year represent the highest level of expertise and ability in our industry. We are pleased to recognize them with this award.”

Chris Disantis was presented with the Silver Spark Plug, which was established in 1968, during the opening of TMC’s 2024 Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition in New Orleans.

“I want to express my deepest appreciation to the TMC and my peers for honoring me with this prestigious award, and I want to thank all of my colleagues and friends at Aim for their support and belief in me throughout my career,” said Chris Disantis.

“I’ve been in this industry for three and a half decades, yet I’m just as passionate about it as the first day I got into it,” Chris continued, “and this award only serves to further my passion and my commitment to drive innovation and excellence in the truck maintenance industry.”

TMC is one of the leading truck maintenance authorities. With roots dating back to 1956, the organization combines real-world experience and technical expertise—through its diverse composition of fleets, equipment suppliers, manufacturers, educators and service providers—to develop the industry’s best practices, specifically tackling critical technology and maintenance issues that impact truck fleets the most.

Since starting with Aim more than 35 years ago, Chris’ devotion, skill and passion for the industry has been vital to Aim’s mission and elevating the Aim brand as a commercial transportation solutions provider.

Currently, Aim Transportation Solutions has a fleet of more than 11,000 commercial vehicles under its care. That staggering number speaks volumes. It underscores the trust businesses place in Aim’s unparalleled customer service, which is driven in large part by Chris’ ambition to advance change, adopt new technologies and practices, and strive for excellence.

“Chris is the embodiment of who we are at Aim—hardworking, innovative and passionate—and a cornerstone of what we do best—delivering best-in-class fleet services,” said Aim President, Scott Fleming. “For more than 35 years, Chris has worked his way to the top of the company and has been vital to our vision and success every step of the way.

While Chris is a absolute all-star at Aim, his influence expands far beyond the company’s walls, rippling throughout the industry.

For starters, Mr. Disantis serves on the Board of Directors for the American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council and is a frequent expert contributor in several industry publications.

Chris also formerly chaired the S.1 Electrical Study Group, a TMC initiative to assist in the development of durable, reliable and maintainable electrical systems for highway vehicles. He served as S.1 Chairman from 2016-2020 and 1st Vice Chairman from 2014-2016. During this time, he oversaw the development and update of numerous recommended practices; and helped organize and serve as a panelist on several technical and mini-technical sessions with S.1 and other study groups.

He has also served on the TMC Board Nominating Committee and the ASE Training Managers Council, and he is a current member of NationaLease’s tech competition committee, which he has done for 10 years.

“For all he’s done for Aim, for developing technicians of the future and the industry at large, I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of the TMC’s Siver Spark Plug,” said Scott Fleming.
