Eric Samp Named Vice President of Used Trucks
Aim Transportation Solutions is pleased to announce that Eric Samp has been promoted to Vice President of Used Trucks. In this elevated role, Eric will continue to drive Aim’s used commercial truck sales while maintaining the company’s stellar reputation for selling affordable, reliable and efficient pre-owned vehicles.
Since coming on board in 2018 as Director of Used Trucks, Eric’s innovation, steadfast leadership, vast experience and natural business acumen have been vital to the rapid rise and overall success of Aim’s used truck sales over the last five years. And in the used truck industry, those five years have been anything but easy.
During this time, Eric has not only grown and expanded Aim’s used truck sales to record heights, he’s been instrumental in helping the company weather unprecedented events like the pandemic, when used truck sales nationwide all but flatlined, and the eventual rebound, when the market caught fire and demand was nearly impossible to meet.
“When Eric joined Aim, he took what was good before and made it exceptional.” said Scott Fleming, Aim Co-President. “His ability to grow this side of the business in spite of the volatility of the market these past few years has been extraordinary, and he’s earned every bit of this promotion and then some.”
“I am honored and blessed that the Flemings and the executive office have the faith and trust in what the used truck division does to help the company succeed,” Eric said. “I am very appreciative of their support and this opportunity for advancement in my career at Aim.”
Eric graduated from Bradley University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Prior to joining Aim, he spent 20 years with Caterpillar Inc. working in marketing, sales, purchasing and operations while living in Charlotte, NC, and Toronto, ON.
Eventually Eric would move back to Illinois, where he currently resides, and part ways with Caterpillar after the company pulled out of the on-highway truck market. He then became the director of used trucks for a local Kenworth-Volvo dealership for two years prior to joining Aim.
“I couldn’t be prouder to work for Aim,” Eric said. “I have been with Aim almost five years of my 27-year professional career, and this is by far the best company I have worked for.”
“The Aim organization, ownership, management and the entire team is truly a family experience,” he added. “Very few careers or jobs make you want to come to work every day, but this is one of them!”
Now that Eric’s kids are grown, and he’s no longer involved in coaching their sports, in his free time he enjoys collecting cars, going to car shows, traveling with his wife (and kids when they can) and dabbling in real estate.
“I want to thank everyone at Aim for their support over the last five years as we have grown and continue to grow Aim used trucks,” Eric concluded.
