Employees from Aim Transportation Solutions, sporting pink T-Shirts displaying the team’s slogan, “Aim for a Cure,” took stride for a great cause in this year’s Panerathon.
The Panerathon is a popular annual charity event held in downtown Youngstown, OH. The goal behind the 10K run and the 2-mile fun run or walk is to raise money for the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center (JACBCC), which delivers the most accurate prevention, early detection, diagnosis and services available.
Over the last 14 years, the Panerathon has raised more than $3.5 million for the JACBCC.
While Aim has earned a stellar reputation as a leading provider of commercial fleet services with a strong focus on innovation and technology, what sets the company apart is its family-owned values, which includes a strong commitment to giving back to the community. Since the company’s inception, Aim’s founder, Chairman & CEO, Tom Fleming, has always believed in taking care of the communities where we live and work, especially Youngstown where Aim is headquartered, and supporting the participation of Aim employees in events like the Panerathon is a testament to this philosophy.
Rallying the Aim troops for this great event, were Harry Shood, CFO; Sharon Bullock, Accounts Payable Associate; Lorri Elchuck, Accounts Receivable Associate; Stephanie Hahn, Human Resources Manager; and Suzy Baer, Director of Recruitment.
And rally they did! On race day, team Aim, a huge crew of 64 that included Aim employees (from 13 different departments), along with friends and family, joined thousands of others at the starting line. With anticipation and excitement in the air, participants were given the green light, and the mob of eager racers hit the pavement for the miles-long journey through downtown Youngstown.
“We proudly participate in the Panerathon to support our friends and family members who have been afflicted by breast cancer, including some of Aim’s employees,” said Suzy Baer. “It has been heartwarming to see so many members of the Aim family champion this event, what it represents and the lives it helps save, and I want to thank everyone who came out to support it as well as Aim’s leadership team for backing team Aim every step of the way.”
One of the many great services the Panerathon fundraising event has made possible is the JACBCC’s state-of-the-art mobile mammography unit. Servicing about 25 sites in the tri-county area monthly, more than 11,000 exams have been performed on the “mammovan.”
Team Aim helped contribute to the whopping $600,000 raised during this year’s Panerathon, nudging the event’s lifelong earnings past the $4-million milestone.
